Pictured is the view up from test location. The test failed suddenly on the 16th step. The failed block was removed easily without appreciable resistance. The next obvious layer in the column failed at step 30 but was PC and quite resistive. Other skiers we talked to noted a layer at ground level failing during a test higher up in the bowl. They apparently carried out a ski cut that did not produce a failure, however. When we checked the density of the snow before the loading steps we noted that the snow gradually and consistently increased in density from fist to pencil over the 1m depth that we dug.
