30-40 cm of recent storm snow made for great riding in wind sheltered powder stashes. In most areas around treeline, wind effect was observable as ripples across the surface or small drifts of soft snow. No signs of instability or avalanche activity in the low angle treeline terrain where we were riding. Snowpack tests on various aspects around 1600 m identified a couple of storm interfaces in the top 40 cm but the overlying snow showed no slab properties. Below the snowpack was well consolidated.
Snow conditions were: Powder, Wind affected. Weather conditions were: Cloudy, Windy. We rode: Mellow slopes. Riding quality was good.
