Clemina Creek First Sail

Frozen Pirate, Saturday 21st November, 2020 9:00PM

Great first ride of the year on the snow canoe's. Monashee range. Very thin snow valley bottom to treeline elevation. We tip toe'd up to alpine then snuck back to treeline to avoid solid hazards stuck to the earth (rocks) Average 100cm snowpack at 1950m Good quality snow treeline/alpine with 75cms on top of a supportive, 6cm rain crust from late Oct. Good times riding for sure although playing roulette with natural hazards. Winds were off and on from SW light + (?) Some windslab developement in open lee alp features as seen in the pic of a small convex wsl release (sled triggered). Ridge top transfer noted during gusts. Only other noted activity was loose dry to sz1 in steep lee alp terrain, some started from small pieces of cornice failure. Test profile was quite pleasant, pls see tab.
