<p>Skier (skinner?) accidental size 1.5. Snowpack was 30cms storm slab increasing from fist to finger hardness on top of a 5cm sun crust above facets to ground. Slab avalanche fractured about 10m above second person on uptrack on the sun crust/facet interface ~35cms down. Noticed whumpfing on the way up on lower-angled slopes where the snowpack consisted of only the 30cm storm slab above facets to ground (no sun crust). Transitioned to a slightly steeper south slope where the sun crust appeared and avalanched almost immediately. Don’t let your guard down even below treeline!</p>
