Cypress loop

albertocsanz, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:32PM

Did a classic loop around Hollyburn, dropping to the West, and up Strathan with a run down the Xmas gully. Observed sz1 storm slabs released on the crust on the N side of Hollyburn, and smaller slabs (~20 cm deep) on steep features. The snow had a bit of a wind crust and felt heavy at times, but skied good for the North shore! The Xmas gully had a fair amount of tracks by the time we skied it, and a sz1 had already gone (skied triggered I guess), was a bit wind affected at the top, but otherwise good quality on recent storm slab. Crust was obvious. The day remained cold and we stayed away from sunny slopes. It started snowing lightly as we left the area. Overall a pretty good day in the shore, with plenty of untracked nice snow to be had if the sun or warmth doesn't get to it first.
