Observed surface hoar below treeline, with the largest crystals shortly after passing Temple Lodge (shown in picture), decreasing in size as we gained elevation and gone by the time we reached the valley between Unity Peak and Wolverine Ridge. We skied the NE face of Wolverine Ridge at treeline, on a moderately steep slope (25-35 degrees) with minimal convexity. The snow depth was quite variable, ranging from boot deep powder to minimal cover, which we assumed was from recent wind loading. No other instabilities were noted, although we did not conduct any formal tests
