Surprise Pass: the views great the riding not so much. Legend Purple: moguls Orange: breakable wind/thermal crust Green: Sweeeet (by comparison) Go there for the views and a bit of adventure, not the ride quality. No signs of instability on the circuit, but we had topped out at 10:45 just as the sun was starting to reach the final climb. The descent was wind affected very skied out at ridge too: no wind slab. Lower down could be a concern later in the day. Of note: Mount Whyte’s south aspect was already shedding wet loose slides, almost to valley bottom by 11:00 am.
