Skied the west couloir on Mt Fitzwilliam. Good snow quality in sheltered areas, predominantly at treeline.
2 x Sz 2.5 slab avalanches triggered by loose snow avalanches running off rocks above. Suspect these were triggered in the warm, sunny afternoon on Tuesday. Bed surface of the slabs was a thick, hard crust (unsure local layer date, haven't skied in Jasper thus far this season). Debris refrozen and previously most. Ski cut 3x Sz1 wind slabs in the upper couloir. Down 10-15 cm and 4F hand hardness. Formed by the lee of the cliff to the south, and only reactive on slopes >40°.
Strong SW winds sandblasted us at the ridgetop. S-1 light flurries throughout the day. Surface condition was graupel size 3-4 mm.
