Quick Observation

Surface crust we’re breaking down midday, from the sun, on the E facing aspect of the Trout River Bowl. Some great turns in the lower Bowl, once things started to soften up a little. The upper Bowl is drastically wind affected, and still very wintery hard. Had a look at the “lunchbox chutes”, from the top. It was tough to tell there size, but the entries were guarded a little more then normal by cornices. Shaping up for a long spring season in the bowl, with a deeper snow pack then last few years. Snow from the parking lot to the bottom of the bowl. Easy to traverse back to your car on descent. Some new cornice failures in the area, and lots of pinwheels on solar aspects. We are not quite yet into a spring snow pack in this area, but the transition is well underway.
