Quick Observation

Great day out. Stay safe out there. Good conditions in the right areas. Lots of spring danger in the wrong areas.

Avalanche Information

Triggered what must have been a small storm slab on one of my first few turns - and I was the first skier. Thought it was sluff so cut away to a new line. Went back up to investigate it. Had a crown 12m wide so not just loose dry. Snow didn't feel like storm slabs were forming on the way up, and on return to investigate still no slabs adjacent to it. Must have just hit the only one the first time ;-). N aspects in area were foot pen 30cm of loose soft snow from last few days. Lots of loose dry naturals from steep terrain on edges of chute that didn't run far and debris was soft. My storm slab looks like it entrained loose snow below it and the debris was setting up fairly firm when we crossed it on the way back up. Debris was on 38 deg slope. Slab ran on 44 deg slope. Nothing moved on second run. Day was overcast with occasional broken cloud, -3c at 2500m, light winds from sw.
