Quick Observation
Not bad! But also...being mindful. We did a little walk to see cabin bowl and the potential wind affected after this week's storm snow/ wind. Did a quick visual before riding nice powder on 4a, then headed to north bowl. North bowl started seeing still soft wind effect once you come over the last knoll on the uptrack, but spots where it was definitely scoured. below there was 60cm of unaffected snow! Wanting a better picture of this storm snow on the Jan crust layer, we dug a pit in the back of the bowl in dispersed trees just before the usual up track to the saddle on the NW. CT moderate at 6 one failure at about 35cm depth. No major slab properties, mostly storm snow moving. CT Hard at 3-4 two failures, one at 45cm depth and another on the Jan crust layer at 60cm both planar and verm firm. Saw facets just above the crust layer with a 4 finger depth. ECT had similar results, Hard at 6-8 but did in fact propagate at failure on the crust layer 60cm from surface. Didn't take great effort to move on the planar surface. Slope angle was around 35+ (roughly) Natural small sluffs on point releases are around. Decided to avoid any zones higher or with inconsistent wind loading or thin patches! Good day of being curious and checking out what's going on in the snowpack after a gap in touring (and a lot of weather). We still had face shots ;)
