We headed out to the Paddy's area to investigate the depth of our Persistent Weak Layer and snow quality (pow pow). The sled up the trail was fairly straight forward, with a bit of nasty side hilling over steep avalanche debris brought down from the Jan 14 natural avalanche cycle.
We we're pleasantly surprised with snow quality and test results. 25cm of fresh pow made the ski conditions quite nice. Brad says the best run he's rode this year. But Seth just got back from Japan and begs to differ.
Our facet persistent weak layer is about 70cm below and the surface and we got not results in our Extended Column Test. No results doesn't mean its all good to go. Travel carefully in thick to thin areas where the PWL is closer to the surface.
