Avalanche Information

Storm and wind slabs were consolidating quickly higher up (around 1600m) and instabilities (cracking) were observed as well. We rode open trees to dense trees and then stopped in the trees above this open slope (south aspect) with the intent to traverse around it. Stopping in the trees was enough to produce a crack (propagated about 5m) and two jumps on my snowboard were enough to release it. The slide was 25m wide and ran about 100m to the trees below. The slide occurred on the west side of the open slope, and the east slide hadn't released yet. The crown was 20cm and appeared to be recent storm snow. Minimal to light wind in this location. Everyone safe. First picture is from the Zopkios Brake Check location.
