Quick Observation
Great day out with way better weather/snow than we expected up Cayoosh. Totally trash rain crust until about 1800m, then it improved dramatically with rippable wind buff and a little powder on top. Had some excitement on the start of our descent. See the avalanche tab.
Avalanche Information
Triggered a slide on the east side of the col to get up to North Glacier and Cayoosh Summit. Stability had been generally good, including on the skin to the col, so I made a silly decision to ski the more exciting part past some rocks. Popped a wind slab from Saturday's snow and today's Northerly winds. Went for a little ride, but was able to slow myself down and let the debris flow past me. 10cm in the start zone but propogated down the slope on a weird angle and up to 30cm thick at the deepest. Wind slabs are tricky and a good lesson was learned.
