North Rockies

Today at the Torpy we took advantage of stable conditions to travel far and familiarize ourselves with areas we don’t often go. The 10-20 cm of soft snow made for easy, stuck-free travel but the crust was still noticeable causing the tracks to wash out from time to time. We had some loose dry slides from our tracks in steep terrain but saw no slab avalanches or other signs of instability like cracking. In the morning we had to play peak-a-boo through clouds to travel the alpine, but the sky broke up in the afternoon and we enjoyed exploring in the mild temperatures, calm winds and scattered sunshine.
