Whumpfing in the treed flats

Went for a walk toward Simpsons Gulch area and felt/heard several loud whumpfs along the way. We dug down in one of the locations where this occurred and found the weak layer down around 30 cm. It consisted of a series of crusts with weak sugary facets around them. Found some great skiing in mellow terrain and avoided big steep slopes.
