Whoooo-weeee it was windy up high today. Southwest winds have done a real number on the Telkwa and we have lost a lot of snow to sublimation. The alpine and upper treeing are a vast moonscape of sastrugi & hard wind slabs. We sought shelter in the trees where the riding was actually quite good. We did a bit of snowpack investigation and were not able to identify any persistent weak layers in the upper meter of the snowpack around treeline (1500 m). We’ll be looking for persistent weak layers in the region over the coming days.
