Some of the best skiing of the season inbounds and in the Backcountry this season. The storm last night finished with no wind. Through the warm tempatures made for slow cakey snow on the flats.
When the sun came out this morning it triggered loose dry avalanches above bourgeau left hand that almost went over the ice climb, see picture.
Ski patrol triggered two size 2+ avalanches in the dive to ground,. See picture.
In the sunshine meadows a compression test on SE aspect at 2300m was giving SC in the moderate range down 50cm on a facet layer over top a denser wind slab, see pictures. Later in the afternoon the winds picked up in the moderate range and you could see wind slabs building.
Below 1800m the skiing is rough on the icy rain layer.
