Snow Science with White Wilderness Heli Skiing
Northwest Coastal
AvCan Northwest , Thursday 16th January, 2025 7:15PM
Our morning started warm and wet. By mid-day there was enough clearing for us to join the team at White Wilderness Heli Skiing to collect snowpack and avalanche conditions observations. We saw extensive avalanche activity from the last storm event. Storm snow was around 1-m deep at 1500m. Below 1100m the snowpack rapidly tapers in depth. There has been no shortage of precipitation around Terrace, but high temperatures have resulted in rain leaving very little snow below 500m.
