Quick Observation

A great day out at West Nile. The day was mostly sunny and calm in the morning, with wind increasing noticeably into the afternoon. No new snow accumulation during the day. No signs of the dust-on-crust that was found below 2000m on the SW slopes of Dolomite Shoulder the day before. Snow conditions were ~20cm of light powder which fell within the previous 48hrs and was slightly wind affected by the time we got there. Snow re-distribution was evident, particularly in the middle of the slide path, but no formation of wind slabs were observed. We observed signs of a size 1 loose snow avalanche on the east-facing steeper slopes several hundred meters to the north of the slide path. No avalanche activity, cracks, or whumphing was observed when we were out. Overall skiing conditions were great and there is still plenty of fresh lines to be had.
