Quick Observation

Good skiing on Mount Field today. We avoided the summit headwall, but ventured towards the lower ridge between Mt.Field and Mt.Wapta. Some evidence of old debris noted from Field Headwall. Some buried wind slab observed right below ridge crest, which had us turning around before committing to steeper terrain. Cornices have been failing along the Field/Wapta ridge in the past 24hrs

Avalanche Information

A few loose dry sz.1 natural avalanches from the last 24hrs from steep alpine terrain. 1 cornice failure within last 24hr pulling small sz.2 windslab over steep cliffy terrain. 2 additional cornice failures were observed in quick succession in the afternoon from the steep W face of Wapta Mountain. No slabs pulled
