We headed up Forster Creek with the hopes of finding some soft surface snow. Unfortunately, we didn't find anywhere without a surface crust up to 2400 m, even on northerly aspects. It was fully supportive at 1900 m and below, and a 1 cm breakable crust higher up. There was also old wind affected snow in exposed alpine terrain. This all led to mediocre riding, but still great sight seeing with clear skies.
There was widespread surface hoar growth on all aspects, which will be concerning once it eventually snows again.
