Back from a few days in McMurdo ski touring; Jan 11-13th. We didn't venture above treeline during the whole trip as visibility and high winds made it unfavourable.
-40-50cms of snowfall over the three days.
-Moderate to strong SW winds at and above treeline with heavy snow transport.
-Lots of trees shedding snow as well as pin-wheeling below 1900m.
-Moderate to Hard, Sudden Planar CT results on the Jan 2 SH layer down 80-100cms.
-With better visibility this morning we saw evidence of a natural cycle up to size 2 from yesterday at and above treeline.
-275 to 300cm HS at 2200m.
It was great to see a healthy amount of snow in this area considering it's still the first half of January!
