This report adds details to the avalanche incident already listed by Public safety. Climbing along a ENE aspect burnt tree rib as a group of 5 friends, around 2000m elevation, the second skier triggered a small soft wind slab in the freshly cut skin track. The slab had a small propagation and slid on Dec. 2nd crust, catching and pushing two persons toward the north side on the rib 40deg slopes, the avalanche took volume and speed with the addition of loose faceted snow. The 2 skiers where carried down 100m elevation in recently burnt forest, but not buried. The size 2 avalanche ran for 200m El. total. One of the skiers suffered fractures and bruising being pushed against burned trees. Both lost half their gear. Thank to a fellow guide who happened to be close by and Banff Public Safety for the excellent incident response.
