High clouds in the morning gave way to mostly sunny skies. Light winds. Temperatures warmed to 40s by midday.
Snowpack
The pictures largely tell the story of our snowpack. With nearly 20 days since our last meaningful snowfall, the snowpack has deteriorated into facets on most upper elevation slopes. Facet formation extends down below treeline, although once you dip below about 10,500, wet rounded grains reign superior. Mid-pack slabs and surface wind-slabs have weakened with the dry and warm weather, and do not support propagation during pit tests. Larger grain 3-4 mm facets have appeared in pits. West-facing slopes are wind-blasted.
