We started up the skiers right side of the slide path and there was evidence of a large slide size 1.5-2 that had little to no fresh snow on it. It ran a significant amount of the slide path, almost the entire length except the last 600meters and must have happened yesterday or the day before. We punched up through the trees which were thick with regrowth for a few KM and made a decision to turn around after we had worked up past the cliff bands on lookers right of the slide path, but to our left as we worked up the right side trees. We experienced multiple whumpfs and some cracking while in the trees. Our other group continued working up and witnessed a skier trigger a size 1 avalanche in the slide path/gully and get buried up to their neck. They self rescued quickly and were ok. They had cut across the slide path and it let go on a slab on top of a boulder. Our group turned around and skied the regrowth in the burn until we could ski lookers left of the slide path above the recent debris. It was snowing lightly and cloudy all day, temps ranged from -10 to -5. 20ish cm fresh snow.
