Observation: Strawberry

Saturday we dug a pit near Strawberry Reservoir and observed a shallow snowpack with a deep hoar weak layer at the base. The majority of the snowpack consisted of two very dense layers sepertated by a < 1cm faceted layer. Neither the weak layer at the base or the faceted layer at 75 cm were reactive during a compression test, although a shovel pry easily sperated the upper layers.
