Observation: Wolf Creek Pass

Travels up Hwy 35 revealed a strikingly elevation dependent snowpack, with almost no snow observed below ~9000' (see photo from Mill Hollow Ranger Stn) Yesterday's (20251120) snowfall likely was liquid rain below this level for a time. Additionally, the snowpack is very location dependent (see attached photo from Duchesne ridge facing south), and largely limited to Wolf Creek Pass at the moment. A snow profile from near Wolf Creek reveals a snowpack strengthened by the recent moisture, and the basal ice provides some amount of ease of travel as well.

4" of new snow began the day with a dazzling layer of 4-8mm surface hoar atop (photo attached) - this was preserved everywhere by lack of overnight winds, but did melt off of all solars by the afternoon.
