Quick Observation

Yesterday at the Farm Burn things were very wet below 1300m with a deep layer of wet snow. Between 1300-1350 there was a weak two crust surface; a 1cm sun crust on 3cm of new snow & a 3cm rain crust below. This layer slid on both crusts when cut. Higher up slope 4cm of new snow sat on a 3cm crust. We dug at pit at 1420m S 30° snowpack was 242cm. CT1(two failues) Q1 down 7cm on the bottom of the crust and 14cm below and the interface of new and rounded snow. CT 13 Q2 down 60cm in rounded snow. No propagation on either layer in ECT. Skiing was crusty or heavy in the open and chunky under the trees. Temperature were rising when we left around noon, with thaw just starting at 1400m. No signs of recent (24hr) avalanche activity.
