Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
Toured to the summit via the cog. Above Jacob’s ladder starting at about 5200’ the snow was heavy dense wind board in drifts and had isolated cracking around the skin track. Coverage was thin but solid throughout below about 5200’. Coverage above that was from the summit was skiable in rock skis. Despite clouds and snow at the base we poked through in spots as we neared the summit in the afternoon with no winds. New snow was consolidated and generally dense powder throughout. Easy to get new storm/wind slabs to break off the icy crust in big chunks on the steep sides of wind drifts. Coverage at the base of the cog was tracked out and thin in spots but the new snow offered soft turns over a base of grass/gravel below the mid station
