Quick report
We toured up the Cog Railway to take a look at the snow on the west side and Great Gulf. Above Jacob’s ladder we found mostly wind swept surfaces down to the rain crust and deep drifts in protected, wind sheltered areas. From what we could see, North and East facing gullies in the great gulf are loaded at ridgelines and are well connected, smooth and capable of producing large avalanches. We peered in from the ridgeline but did not venture into wind loaded terrain. Upper and mid elevation terrain on the west side is still shallow and disconnected.
Weather
Began the morning touring with light snow showers, graually clearing to blue skies. Calm winds became moderate at upper elevations into the afternoon.
