With low/no visibility in the bowl today we were not able to see what was happening to the new snow higher up in the terrain but we did find plenty of wind loading and reactivity where we felt comfortable venturing today. There are Wind Slabs to consider out there. There was significant snow transport around Hermit Lake. On test slopes along the TRT we found reactive wind slabs that were 10-30 cms thick. Hand Shears were found to be easy and fail at multiple levels. The top layer was a six cm, 1F hard slab and failed on graupel and the second failure was at 20 cms on a melt freeze crust.

Snowpack
The new snow is not evenly distributed and is still being blown around but we did not find any scaured aspects. Even in less sheltered areas we found ski penetration ranged from two to ten cms and boot penetration was about 40 cms. we found a lot of buried graupel at various depths and a pencil hard melt freeze crust at 20 cms that the new snow wasn't adhering to.
