We drove past Pilgrim Creek and staged before the 48 intersection. Our original intention was to poke around towards Stephen’s Pass, but the south facing slopes look thin. We continued on 13 then 15 to Harris Springs with plenty of coverage. Measured 29” of snow at Harris Springs Guard Station, where a thin crust allowed 4” of boot penetration through light snow to firm base underneath. We continued up to Little Glass Mountain and started small then went more aggressive of some of the north slopes. Coverage was good, no signs of instability even with our best efforts. There were occasional signs of cornices collapsing as we worked our way around the north side, some big 4’ x 4’ blocks of snow but no slides from the collapses. We then went to the south side of Little Mount Hoffman, snow was thin up high, too thin to summit. We measured 50” of snow in the meadow at the base, this south facing aspect has spring conditions with no signs of instability. Overall conditions were stable and much better than expected considering the 13 days since precipitation.
