- <p>Noted some relatively short running D1 wet loose avalanches on southerly aspects; suspect this was from solar effects during Wednesday's clear skies. Northerly aspects featured some human-triggered dry loose sluffing in the steeper terrain, but generally good bonding with underlying snowpack. </p>
Snowpack
Snow surface was still generally soft, but of varying density. In protected terrain, it was still nice powder. In more exposed locations, it was a bit denser, with 1-10cm of wind skin/slab on top depending on the particular spot. However, aside from the most exposed ridgeline locations, the wind slab was about 4F (1F/1F+ at the ridgeline). 30-60cm of storm snow sits on top of a rain crust <7200ft or so that preceded the January 14/15 snow; rain crust depth varies with increasing elevation (deeper) and exposure (shallower). Snowpack depth ~1.5m at 6000ft, ~2.1m at 7000ft.
