Quick report
Firm crust, no whoomph, for skinning with increasingly more dry-fresh sitting on top as we ascended. Three debris piles above 5000 ft from apparent wet-loose a few days old. We observed crowns along the largest path suggesting it reached a deeper, weak layer. This large debris pile came from the SE aspect of penrose. Two smaller piles ran down from the N aspect of the drainage. Cornices stood on the ridge of this lee aspect. Dry-loose of greatest immediate concern. New snow throughout the day continued to bury a recently formed week layer.
Snowpack
215cm of snow at 6000 feet, N aspect in western-most drainage of rescue creek. The top 10cm was fine, fresh and dry snow. This buried a recently formed sugary, weak layer about 10cm thick itself. Another, thinner, weak layer persists 45cm down. It snowed from 1pm throughout the day.
