Quick report

Collapsing
widespread

Toured from 4,000 to 6,400 feet ascending mostly southerly aspect in approximately 10cm of light snow. Audible collapses started at about 5,200 feet becoming common with elevation. The culprit appeared to be a fairly thick (~2 cm) but weak crust below the new snow and overlying sugary faceted snow. We kept the skin track to a low angle ridge and descended the same way. There was light snowfall throughout the day with little accumulation.
