5000'-6500': -Snow coverage became consistent at ~5000' (1-2" of moist M/F grains(rain)) This rain crust existed to my high point of 7300', more on that below... -Powder snow around 5500' with 4-8" of recent accumulation to 6500' on top of the moist, M/F basal layer (4-6") 6500'-7300': -Travel on foot became difficult above 6500'. -Recent accumulations topped out around 10" (F+) and appeared well bonded to the rain crust which became supportable around 7200' -This M/F layer was pencil-knife hard (boot supportable), 10" above the ground -Below the rain crust I observed frozen M/F grains with no alarming basal layer (no depth hoar in this location) -Small, harmless cornices existed at ridgeline. Cracking was confined underfoot, but present.
