Quick report

Red Flags Comment

Other than wind loads that remain from the last storm, no red flags observed today. The little warming from the sun was causing some snow to fall off trees, but nothing more than that (at least not before we got out of there around 1pm). Loose dry sluffs in steep slopes were fairly easily managed.

Snowpack

Snow surface was fairly uniform on the northerly and easterly aspects we were on with about a foot of soft powder sitting on a supportable crust. The surface snow had settled 4-6" or so in some spots based on settlement cones and breaking trail was tough. Did not find much evidence of the PWL in this zone after digging several hand pits up to my shoulder.
