Tsaina valley, Hoodoo

I took several runs up the Tsaina and Hoodoo valleys on 3/31 and 4/1. During the first day, NE winds were redistributing small to moderate amounts of snow at mid and upper elevations through Thompson Pass as well as the areas we travelled. On 4/1 wind wind-affected snow was observed in all areas, but slab formation was not widespread or significant. Surface snow was wind-packed and stiff,  with small wind slabs scattered throughout most areas. A couple of 10cm thick reactive windslabs were observed, but they were small enough to be inconsequential. Activity on solar aspects was continuing to increase, especially on steep rocky slopes. 

No notable slab avalanche activity. Wet loose was becoming active on solar aspects. Recent serac falls observed in several areas. Small pockets of reactive windslabs in isolated areas were inconsequential to Skiiers/riders. Overall, good stability was observed on Non-solar aspects.
