Mammoth Knolls/ Shaady Rest

Lots of wind lead me to stick to smaller, less exposed areas today on the pow surf and snowmobile. I went to a mostly east, slightly north, facing bowl at the top of mammoth knolls, near the seismograph. I immediately noticed signs of wind loaded at the top of the bowl as winds had pick up considerably at 2pm. Elevation was about 8600ft. I observed the cornice from the top and gave myself lots of distance to ride around and looked at the area from a more north facing aspect. I saw it was a relatively small cornice and decided to drop on the more northern facing slope. On my second drop I moved more towards the cornice, still trying to give my self enough margin for error. That is when it broke, from the corner of my line ( see pictures). Slide did not run far, was made of all new wind loaded snow.
