Our Level 1 tour group traveled from 7800 to 9500' on mostly polar aspects, though some solar slopes were encountered on the moraines, which has a thin crust from yesterday's strong solar radiation. HS ranged from 75 to 110, with the average being around 90 regardless of elevation. We observed a settling snowpack comprised of 15-20cm of F hard near surface facets from the recent cold and clear nights, overlying a progressively resistant snowpack. No old snow interface was observed at the upper elevation limit of our tour. No signs of instability were noted other than minor loose dry sloughing in the surface facets in steep terrain. Despite the below freezing air temps, steeper-tilting solar aspects along the moraine had moistened again and were a source of griping, glopping and grunting.
