Quick report
We went up to Sonora Pass to investigate the weak snow at the bottom of the pack. The patchwork-like distribution of this problem has led to some spatial variability however we have found consistent pit results on NW-E aspects in the Sonora Pass and Leavitt Lake area. Recent reports of a remote trigger of a persistent slab problem and weak faceted snow at the bottom of our pack have kept us entrenched in the persistent slab problem.

Snowpack
100-180 cms of snow in this area. Pit tests products propagation in the new snow at the surface and at the very bottom of the snowpack. Basal facets (3mm+) remain a problem and have been the cause of several large avalanches in the forecast area with remote triggering.
