We dug a large pit on Brighton Hill today as a student in an avy class. ECTs dug by others on the SW-facing side of the ridge did get propagation, but no propagation was found on the NE-facing side (where this pit was). Depth hoar near the ground wasn't reactive with our tests, but was still big and sugary. Given its presence and the uncertainty of how the snowpack in general was reacting to a big load of new snow, we opted to stay in low-angle terrain today.
