Quick report

Red Flags
Wind Loading, Cracking, Poor Snowpack Structure

We dug in Powder Park III at 9000' on a North aspect (HS135cm) and had an ECTP22 on the facet interface down 110 cm. Failure was on a P to 1F transition. Facets were 2-3mm, rounding and moist.

Instability Comment

Northerly aspects were hit hard by wind overnight and during this morning above 9500'. Cracking was widespread in recent drifts, albeit shallow.

The structure in the lower snowpack is still not terrific on high northerlies, though a very dense slab mid-pack has made triggering anything very difficult.
