We went to investigate an avalanche that we spotted from afar. Guessing it occurred sometime between January 29th & 31st. There were many snowmobile tracks on the slope around so we are guessing it was snowmobile triggered. We turned our beacons to search and found no signal. This avalanche was interesting because it started sliding on a layer 55cm above the ground and then stepped down to the ground. The crown varied between 2 & 4 feet deep and filled the gully at the bottom completely. Wish we knew the whole story, hope everyone involved is okay.
