Quick report

5" of snow to start the day with another 4-5" throughout the day. Low 20's, light wind. Great soft conditions. Dug a few hasty pits along the way up. There's a buried surface hoar down 12+" that kept shearing clean, but was difficult to pull. Surface snow sloughed with turns, but no cracking or whoompfing. I climbed up a N NW slope and skied similar aspects. Skied in the shelter of trees, but steep (>35*) One caution I would have is that the new snow is not bonding where ever the old surface had been scoured hard by the winds. I literally had trouble keeping an edge in a few places a I slide down sideways a few feet. It would be very easy to slide down something you don't want to be going down...like a cliff band. Know what is below you!
