Quick report
It was hard to tell how much snow fell overnight. There looked to be about 6" of new snow on Everitt Meml Hwy in the morning before it was plowed around 9am. We skied a north aspect off the north end of Sand Flat between 6300'-6800' elevation. On this slope there was 12-18" of dry light/medium density snow on top of a stout crust that was difficult to poke through with a pole handle. Beneath this crust the snow was less consolidated and faceted. New snow was unconsolidated and reasonably well-bonded to the crust underneath. Stomps/ski cuts on top of short steep (>40 deg) rollovers only produced minor dry sluffing. The depth of the old snow seemed to be ~2' or greater at 6300', but a few logs/stumps were still lurking near or just under the surface of the new snow. Overall, just enough old+new snow for great skiing! No/light wind with occasional light/moderate snow showers between 9am-1pm. Sun poked out for a bit around 1230pm. Temperature low 20sF.
