Quick report
Recent winds have left a variety of snow surfaces. Leeward slopes have old wind slabs and some soft snow. Wind scoured areas have been stripped down to the 3/7 rain crust which is generally breakable. Solar aspects aspects that have been stripped have a very firm old melt freeze crust. Some wind sheltered solar aspects took on some solar heat today.
Most of the wind transport from the last wind effect seems to have happened a couple of days ago. Very small amounts of snow were being transported today. In the areas we travelled wind slabs were stubborn and becoming isolated were you coud trigger them. Some large cornices now exist and are something to keep an eye on with warming this week.

Cold and windy day up high, but was nice in the sun. Wind were moderate blowing from the NW, W, and SW at the end of the day.
Snowpack
We dug in avalanche bowl NE, 9,100 feet. The height of snow was 230cm. The JDL was down 90cm and was 1-1.5cm upright surface hoar, the facets below this where 1F hard. Results were ECTX and PST 50/100 To End on the SH. This weak layer has a P hard slab on top and has seen a lot of compression from the slab above. It is has gained a lot of strength in the last couple of weeks.
