7am solo tour departure from Vista Butte Snow Park. 1 C Temp. Summited via S.W. aspect. Observed widespread moderate surface crust from wind and previous warming. Evidence of widespread prior warming all aspects below 6500 ft from icicles on trees. Surface hor present all aspects above 6500ft. Summit winds light, 5-10mph from the S.W. E and NE aspects above 6500ft had no crust. Dug 190cm pit at 6600ft, NE aspect just below summit on obvious lee side, with no cornice above. Direct sunlight, no cover. Performed CT/DT results below: CTM at 30cm, RP. CTN to 100cm CTN to 190cm Layer Depth: F to 30cm 4F to 60cm 1F to 110cm P to 190cm Snowpack appeared to be right side up and stable to 190cm. No facets or remarkable layers existed. Surface warming began on decent, with wet snow beginning to appear. Decent via S.W. aspect was unremarkable on firm crust and melting snow patches. Encountered one group at summit.
