Quick report

We toured up into the Magpie bowl in flat light that brightened a bit in the afternoon with surprising gaps in the clouds here and there. A couple inches of fresh snow at the car turned to 4-8” (variable due to wind transport) at our turn around point at 3700’. Surface conditions were soft, with some slight wind pillows that would have made us think twice in steeper terrain. As it was, although there was evidence of snow transport and an average of about 6” new snow, we saw no signs of instability. That said, this entire bowl saw huge activity in the storm from two weeks back and there is still frozen debris hidden under the new snow (eek!) - but skiing was good where you could get away from the debris.
